Shelter (2019) + Cardboard life (2019)
Whilst in my first year of my BA Fine Art degree I made the choice to deter from the painting and drawing that I had been doing since GCSE and pick up a new skill in sculpture. To begin this I chose the material cardboard and started to experiment with shaping and hot gluing the cardboard in order to construct several sculptures.
This sculpture was completed after a period of testing the limits of the material (creating the human figure and animals) and how large a scale I could reach. I made the decision that I wanted to create this building inside of my studio space and see if I could create a completely different environment and that would take you away from the white walls and bright lights throughout the studio. I believe I was successful with this project as the finished product easily blocked out the outside world and become a cosy and warm area to be in.
This sculpture was created entirely from cardboard fixed together with a hot glue gun.
